Prices actualization
1. Can I update a price without being registered?
No! To update the fuel prices you have to be registered (really quick and completely free!) so that the alteration of prices can be associated with the user name.
2. Why are there more actualizations of prices of "normal" fuel than of "premium" fuel?
gasmappers.com is based on community involvement for the regular actualization of fuel prices. Typically, "premium" fuel is more expensive, and thus it’s not used that frequently. Probably not many users are interested in updating this type of fuel. Nevertheless, even if you are not fuelling your car with this type of fuel, it is important to update this information if you have it available.
3. Why doesn’t gasmappers.com update the list of prices of the stations that are generally used? Can't they be updated more frequently?
The engine of gasmappers.com facilitates an organised management of these prices, thus the responsability for the actualization work is the user himself. In Portugal, we cannot offer an automatic update of the system. The only way to update prices is if an user spends some time (a few minutes) to introduce them in gasmappers.com. This platform only works (and will only work) if the user is prepared to be a provider and, at the same time, a consumer. In Spain, the majority of stations are updated on a daily basis by the gasmappers.com team. However, if some stations are not updated, we invite you to contribute!
4. I saw a price some hours ago but I can only update it now. Should I do that?
It is possible that the price changes in this period of time, although the probability is reduced (normally this period is longer than 24 hours). We recommend that the user undertakes the updating and, in any case, another user can still correct the price if he has more recent information.
5. Do I have to pay more attention to the price increase or the reduction?
Don’t worry with the variation (in analytical terms) of prices. The important thing here is to take note of these prices – on paper, on a cell phone, on a laptop or any other form of note-taking and update the prices on gasmappers.com. Our engine was designed to analyse the data in order to present them as contextualised as possible.
6. If a station has a price for unleaded 95 of 1,40€, but has a discount of 3 cents every Wednesday, what should I insert?
The price in gasmappers.com should be always the one that is presented to the public in general, without conditions of time and/or loyalty.
7. An user introduced wrong prices. What shall I do?
Firstly, a price variation may have occurred that might mislead you to think that the price is incorrect. On the other hand, there might have been a mistake in the price entry due to distraction. If so, the price should be corrected with the new value.
However, in the case you detect a vandalisation operation, please contact the gasmappers.com team so that we can take the necessary steps.

8. Can I update more than a fuel price simultaneously?
Yes! When you click a station, a balloon with 2 sections appears (Station and History) or with 3 sections in case you are logged in on gasmappers.com (Station, History and Prices). In the section Prices there is a table with a column named Action, where an icon (yellow pencil) is present in all rows of the table. After clicking this icon, you can insert the price for a specific type of fuel at the selected station. This action can be successively repeated for all types of fuel, and can be finalized solely after pressing the button “Change Prices”.
9. So does this means that I can change more than one price?
Exactly! It is your choice to update one or more prices. There are no technical limitations for the number of prices that you can edit.
10. I updated a price some hours ago, and it was already replaced. Why?
That's the basis of gasmappers.com: the permanent actualization of prices. If the price you inserted has been replaced, it is because it is not valid anymore – which doesn’t mean that it has been incorrect at the time it has been inserted – it was not your mistake! The gasmappers.com community has to work as a team in order to increase the price coverage.
11. Are there no statistical modules on the gasmappers.com website?
Of course there are! In fact, the statistics that are most important for the users are already incorporated in all functionalities of the website
1. A price temperature map includes price statistics to visually present the cheapest and the most expensive stations.
2. If you click the balloon of specific station, you will find a graphic with the evolution of fuel prices for that station in the section "History", for the period of seven days.
3. Finally, there is also a module describing the current national panorama with the minimum and maximum prices for each type of fuel in each country that gasmappers.com operates.

12. Do the prices have to be inserted with a comma or a point in order to separate the decimal numbers?
Don't worry about that, gasmappers.com accepts both formats.
13. What is the best way for a user and a contributor to register the prices in order to insert them later into gasmappers.com?
There are several ways to contribute easily and fast to gasmappers.com. The whole list of prices, which is normally indicated on a board in the exterior next to the station, is the best solution, as it gives the most complete information. You could also read a price on the receipt, where the type of fuel is indicated, the amount fuelled and the price per litre (ex. UNLEADED 95, 11,540 x 1,389).
Map
1. Why isn't my city shown on the map?
gasmappers.com uses the engine of Google Maps for georeferenciation of Continental Portugal and Spain. We can't do anything, only hope that with time your area will be covered as well.
2. The grade of details of the satellite coverage seems low to me. Can't the quality be improved?
As already mentioned before, everything depends on the infrastructure of Google Maps for the presentation of maps and satellite views. You may choose to wait until a certain area is updated with pictures of higher quality, or get directly into contact with the team of Google Maps to receive more information.
3. Why isn't the window to display the map larger?
We use a smaller screen resolution in order to avoid horizontal and vertical bars to benefit of all the features of gasmappers.com. These minor limitations impose limits to the size of the portal and as a consequence, the map.
Search
1. How can I change the default search radius (5km), when I open gasmappers.com?
That is very easy! Under the search box to enter an address, there is an horizontal line with different levels of radius. You only have to drag the marker on the bar to the value you want. Note: don’t reload again in "search" as the changes are done in real time.
2. How does the search and filter application work?
The search can include three parameters: address, radius and filter. The address should be the location where you want to search on the map. Once you press "search", an icon (house) will be visible on the exact location of the address you entered. From this point, a circle with the radius you selected will be drawn (default is 5 km, but can be changed easily – see previous question).
This kind of search is the simplest one and shows all stations within the specified radius you entered, with the respective icons of the supplier. Through this feature you can view and edit all prices of all stations presented. You can as well move / drag the "House" icon in order to find a new location and thus update the stations to the new location chosen.
In case you have done this type of search, you will not have access to the temperature map included in the portal. In order to know which station is the most economic one in the radius selected for a given address, you should select the type of fuel you want in the respective box. Once again, you won't have to press search as the changes are automatically and immediately.
If you wish, you can also define all these parameters before you start your search. Enter the address in the search box, change the radius to the desired value and select the type of fuel of your preference. Press the button "search" and thus reduce the steps referred to before.

3. I selected the wrong type of fuel for the temperature map. Can I change that without having to reload the website?
Of course! Apart from not having to reload the portal, it is as well not necessary to make a new search. Just select a new type of fuel in the dropdown box, and the temperature map will immediately and automatically be actualised.
4. By mistake I selected a type of fuel but, in fact, I only wanted to see the existing stations without a temperature map. What should I do now?
You only have to select the option “Any Fuel Type” in the fuel dropdown box, and it will return to the simple search, where all stations of the selected area will be shown without the temperature map.
5. Is it necessary to be registered in order to have access to any of these features?
No, the registration is and will always be optional, even thought there are many advantages for registered users. See the following section!
Registration and Profile
1. What are the advantages of being a registered user, apart from having access to my profile?
The main advantages are:
1. Permission to add, edit and remove fuel prices.
2. Selection of a pre-defined address whenever you login on gasmappers.com.
3. Selection of a pre-defined fuel type in order to have by default automatic access to the temperature map.
4. Addition, alteration and removal of favourite stations (with the respective preferred fuel type).

4. Addition, alteration and removal of favourite stations (with the respective preferred fuel type).
2. Can I be a registered user and, at the same time, leave both the pre-defined address and fuel type not configured?
Yes, all these parameters are optional, although they are recommended in order to enable an easier and more comfortable navigation.
3. Can I only activate one parameter (e.g. pre-defined address) without having to activate the other one (e.g. fuel type)?
Yes, these parameters operate independently from each other, which means that you can have no address by default but have a fuel type defined and vice-versa.
4. I have made changes in the profile but they have not been saved. Isn't everything stored immediately too?
No, alterations done in the profile have to be concluded and saved through the button "Save Profile". This is not a technological limitation but a security measure that makes sure the user intends to do those alterations (which is essential on the level of changing name and password).
Stations
1. For what reason is a specific station not marked on the map?
Although gasmappers.com started with an extensive database of petrol stations (portalPPC community) it does not include all existing stations in the national territory. Moreover, the dynamic of openings and close-downs of stations is not immediately reflected in our database.
2. How can I add/edit/delete a station that is not correct?
There is an option to "Add Station" on the map displayed on the homepage. Its use is very simple and includes basic instructions. With this feature new stations can be included in our database.
3. Why can't you request a list of stations the main suppliers?
This might be a solution to resolve the problem of the missing petrol stations, but in reality it is not always in the interest of the suppliers to facilitate the access to their own georeferenciated database. With time, agreements might be achieved to allow this process but, for now, we need everybody's dedication and cooperation to improve the numbers of stations referenced.
Favourites
1. Do I have to have to be registered and logged in order to be able to administrate favourites?
Yes, it is not a technical limitation but an option of the gasmappers.com team. By making registration for the administration of favourites mandatory, we are enabling the possibility to see these favourites wherever you are, when you are logged in with your user name. Apart from that, several anonymous users on the same computer and internet browser can use gasmappers.com and thus have access to your favourites.
2. How many favourites can I add in total?
In total you can add up to three favourites. You can choose as well to only include one or two favourites and thus reserve empty slots in case you want to add a new station later on.
3. Are the favourites stations added fixed or can I change them at any time?
There is no restriction regarding whenever and how often you change favourites. For example, you can add three favourites and immediately afterwards change these favourites to other ones.
4. How can I add a favourite?
In order to better understand how to add a favourite, it is necessary to understand what favourites are. Favourites are fixed markers that appear below the map for registered and logged in users only. A favourite includes necessarily the reference of a filling station and a fuel type. This link is undestroyable. Thus a favourite will always show the most recent price of a fuel type (e.g. Unleaded 95) of a pre-defined station (e.g. BP Nova Rot. Lisbon Airport).
Following this brief explanation, just click on a station and the information balloon will appear. On the right side of each fuel type present (with a price added) there is a green icon (a "+") that adds the station as a favourite after being clicked.

5. How do I remove a favourite?
If you click on the favourite, the information balloon of the respective station will automatically open. In this balloon there is a red cross that allows carrying out the operation to remove a favourite.
Alternatively, if you place the mouse pointer on the icon of the fuel supplier (like GALP, BP, Repsol, etc.) there will be a "Recycle Bin" icon. Click it to eliminate this favourite. A confirmation message will allow you to confirm that you really want to delete the selected favourite.
